Step-by-Step Preparation Checklist

1. Arrange Temporary Leave

  • Ensure all occupants, including pets, leave the property during the treatment.
  • Remain out of the premises for at least 2 hours after completion.

❗ This includes cats, dogs, birds, reptiles, rodents, and fish.

2. Protect Food and Consumables

  • Remove or seal all food, drinks, and medicines in airtight containers.
  • Clear countertops of any unpackaged food, crockery, or utensils.

3. Provide Access to Technicians

  • Unlock access points such as cupboards, lofts, garages, or basements.
  • Move furniture away from walls if requested.
  • Secure any valuables or sensitive items.

4. Prepare the Interior

  • Open cabinets, drawers, and cupboards to expose pest hiding places.
  • Cover electronics and delicate items with plastic sheeting if needed.
  • Turn off air conditioners or fans to avoid disrupting the treatment.

5. Remove All Living Things

  • Remove all pets, including fish, small animals, and houseplants.
  • If aquariums or enclosures can’t be moved, cover tightly and turn off pumps (only if advised).

6. Clean Up Beforehand

  • Vacuum and clean floors to remove crumbs and pest attractants.
  • Empty rubbish bins and wash any dirty dishes left in the sink.

7. Post-Treatment Re-entry

  • Do not return to the property before the 2-hour clearance time.
  • Upon re-entry, open windows and doors for ventilation if instructed.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why do I need to leave the property for 2 hours?

The fumigant needs time to work and ventilate safely. This ensures safety for you, your family, and your pets.

2. What should I do with food items and medicines?

Store them in airtight containers or remove them from the premises to avoid contamination.

3. Can I leave my pets in a separate room?

No. All pets must be removed, even in enclosed or sealed rooms. Fumigants can still harm them.

4. Do I need to cover my furniture?

Not usually. However, if you have sensitive electronics or delicate items, consider covering them with plastic sheeting.

5. Will I need to clean up after the treatment?

There is no need for deep cleaning. A quick wipe-down of countertops and surfaces before use is enough.

6. Can I leave my windows open during the treatment?

No. All windows and doors must be closed to allow the fumigant to work properly. You may ventilate once the treatment is complete and the property is safe to enter.

7. What if I have specific medical needs or concerns?

Please let us know in advance. We’ll be happy to adjust our approach to suit any medical conditions or requirements.
