Pest Control in Bethnal Green

Rats, mice, cockroaches and bed bugs are the most frequently reported pests in Bethnal Green and the wider Tower Hamlets area. The mix of Victorian terraces, older flat conversions and busy food businesses along Brick Lane and Mile End Road creates ideal conditions for rodents and cockroaches. Bed bugs are also a growing issue in densely populated residential areas, and the canal network provides rat corridors between properties.

Tower Hamlets Council offers a pest control service for residents covering rats, mice, cockroaches and bed bugs. The council treats rat infestations on council land and provides services for residents in private housing, though this typically involves longer wait times and a more basic service than a private company. Commercial properties are not covered by the council service.

Bugwise treatments start from £260 for ant control and £320 for mice, rats and bed bugs, with transparent fixed pricing and no hidden charges. The final cost depends on the pest, the size of the property and the number of visits required. Contact us for a clear upfront quote.

Responsibility depends on the cause of the infestation. Landlords are generally responsible if pests enter through structural defects, damaged drains or external access points that are their obligation to maintain. Tenants may be liable if poor hygiene or neglect contributed to the problem. In Bethnal Green's older housing stock, structural access routes are a common factor — always check your tenancy agreement or seek advice from Tower Hamlets Council if responsibility is unclear.

Yes, and this is a particular issue in Bethnal Green's converted Victorian terraces and purpose-built blocks. Mice, cockroaches and bed bugs all travel readily through wall voids, service gaps and shared floor cavities between adjoining flats. Treating a single unit without addressing the wider access routes often results in reinfestation. Bugwise can advise on proofing measures and, where needed, co-ordinate treatment across multiple units.

Our BPCA accredited technician will inspect your property to identify the pest, locate activity areas and assess how the infestation has established. Treatment is then applied using the most appropriate method for the pest and property — this may include bait stations, insecticide application, steam treatment or traps. At the end of the visit we provide aftercare guidance and, where proofing is needed, a separate quote for that work.
